Take a Trip to Charleston, South Carolina

South Carolina is a state that has diverse offerings when it comes to tourism. Charleston, South Carolina is no exception. Charleston has a bit of Colonial history to it. It was the first permanent English settlement in both South Carolina and North Carolina. It is one of the most picturesque and historic cities in the country. There are numerous activities when it comes to taking a trip to Charleston, South Carolina.

Begin by visiting downtown Charleston. Visit the City Market for unique sweetgrass baskets. Visit Fort Sumter. Have fun at the South Carolina Aquarium. This is definitely a kid-friendly spot. Charleston offers beautiful cobblestone streets, historic houses, world-class cuisine, gorgeous beaches and a ton of history. You can explore the city by horse drawn carriages or by foot. If you decide on a carriage ride, you can have a guide tell you about all the nooks and crannies of Charleston. This can be a fun activity for families or a romantic activity for couples.

Go to Museum Mile that features six Museums in a one-mile street on Meeting Street. This includes the Gibbes Museum of Art, America’s first public museum. This also includes five nationally historic homes, four parks and numerous other buildings. Go to the harbor at the Battery which offers America’s most photographed painted row of houses. Check out the high-end boutiques and galleries on King Street and Easy Bay Street.

Visit the plantations. A full day can be devoted to plantations. Also, visit the Magnolia Garden plantations. This includes America’s oldest gardens.

Visit the Cooper River. There’s a whole day of exploration over the Ravenal Bridge. You can also stop by the Patriots Point Naval and Maritime museum. Also, visit the Snee Farm plantation who was a signer of the US constitution and South Carolina governor. In 1791, he hosted President George Washington for Breakfast.
