It’s a tough economy, so travel plans might need to be re-evaluated for the coming spring break. Just because the money isn’t there for the big trips for skiing, beach play or over seas travel doesn’t mean the attractions aren’t there. This country is full of hidden treasures within driving distance of every one of our doors, so here are some tips for spring break travel plans.
Look within 100 miles of your house. The internet makes it easy to search for tourist attractions in your home state. You may not have an ocean, but there’s probably a river or lake resort nearby. What about history? You could make travel plans to visit historical sites and camp in parks that are nearby. Over seas travels may be out of the question, but people from over seas settled this continent. Go find some culture! There’s not a state in the union that doesn’t have more than one cultural history. Find those attractions and enjoy.
Maybe travel just isn’t in the budget this spring. When is the last time you enjoyed the attractions in your own home town? If you think it’s boring, then make your house the attraction. Throw a party or a day long picnic. If your house isn’t suitable, use a local park to entertain your friends. Local restaurants would love to host your party, too. The inability to travel doesn’t have to be a spoiler.
Check out alternate transportation options to save money. People cringe at taking the bus, but why not make it an adventure. Let the interesting people who ride it be your entertainment. Use your own sense of fun and imagination. Grab your backpack, catch the bus and head for a state park. Do some back packing and rustic camping. When you get back on the bus, you’ll smell like everyone else who makes it their preferred mode of transportation.
